Abstrakt: A study conducted in a tertiary institute in central India explored the feasibility of using intrapartum transperineal ultrasound to assess and monitor labor progress. The study involved 146 women scheduled for labor induction who underwent ultrasound assessment of cervical dilatation and length, as well as measurement of the fetal head station. The results showed that ultrasound measurements were comparable to digital vaginal examinations in assessing cervical changes and fetal head descent during labor. However, the study found that ultrasound was not reliable for assessing cervical dilatation. Overall, the study concluded that transperineal ultrasound is a feasible and accurate tool for monitoring labor progress. [Extracted from the article]
