Abstrakt: A356 aluminum alloy includes in series of Al-Si-Mg cast alloys designed by 3XX with elemental composition of Si∼7 wt.%, Mg∼0,3 wt.%, and small amount of other impurities. The typical microstructure of cast A356 aluminium alloy consists of eutectic silicone phase and aluminium as matrix. The heat treatment was carried out at a temperature of 540°C with a holding time of 8 hours to transform the hard and brittle phase of the needle-shaped eutectic Si phase into spheroidal particles. The transformation process is started by necking phenomenon at several points of eutectic Si phase until it breaks then the fragmented Si particles spheroidize and coarsened. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
