Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at Wroclaw Medical University in Poland examined the effects of smoking and obesity on peptide hormones and metabolic parameters in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The study included 88 women with PCOS and 28 women without the disease. The findings revealed that abnormal body weight had a stronger impact on metabolic and hormonal disorders in women with PCOS compared to tobacco smoke exposure. However, smoking was found to intensify hormonal disorders associated with adipose tissue. The study highlights the importance of weight control in managing PCOS and suggests that smoking may be an additional factor to consider. [Extracted from the article]
