Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio has found that certain gut microbiota-derived metabolites are associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a type of liver cancer. The study compared the plasma concentrations of these metabolites in 41 HCC patients and 96 healthy controls. The researchers found that metabolites related to trimethylamine (TMA) were present at higher concentrations in HCC patients, along with other metabolites such as P-cresol glucuronide and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid. These findings suggest that gut microbiota-derived metabolites could potentially be used as non-invasive markers for early detection of HCC. Further research is needed to explore the diagnostic and therapeutic implications of these findings. [Extracted from the article]
