A new study conducted by researchers at the National Institute of Biology in Ljubljana, Slovenia, explores the composition of adeno-associated virus (AAV) preparations used in gene therapy. The study found that current production and purification processes often result in AAV preparations containing unwanted viral particles and impurities. The researchers compared different fractions of AAV extracted from a centrifugation gradient using various techniques and concluded that there is a need for innovative approaches to optimize AAV vector production and improve therapeutic outcomes. This research provides valuable insights for the development of more effective gene therapies. [Extracted from the article] |
