A recent report discusses the management of recurrent patellar dislocation, a condition that primarily affects adolescents and adults under the age of 30. The report highlights that this condition can cause long-term pain and damage to cartilage and soft tissues, potentially leading to osteoarthritis. The report describes a randomized controlled trial called REPPORT, which aims to compare the effectiveness of personalized knee therapy versus surgery for recurrent patellar dislocation. The trial will involve 276 participants from various sites across the UK, and the primary outcome will be participant-reported function at 18 months post-randomization. The trial has been approved by the East Midlands-Nottingham 2 Research Ethics Committee and the results will be disseminated through various channels. [Extracted from the article] |
