Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine examined the outcomes of a specific treatment for glaucoma called slow coagulation transscleral cyclophotocoagulation (SC-TSCPC) in a predominantly African American patient population. The study found that SC-TSCPC was an effective procedure for lowering intraocular pressure (IOP) in both phakic and pseudophakic eyes. However, there was a higher incidence of prolonged anterior chamber inflammation and cystoid macular edema in this population compared to similar studies, highlighting the need for careful consideration of potential complications in African American patients. The study suggests that individualized laser settings may be necessary to achieve optimal outcomes. [Extracted from the article]
