The article presents research papers on Information Science in medical education. The subject of "Internet Usage by Low-Literacy Adults Seeking Health Information: An Observational Analysis" is health information literacy, a hot topic for health care providers, librarians, and researchers. In this paper the author states that most health Web sites require at least a high-school reading proficiency for optimal access. The author's intent is to determine how low-literacy adults independently access and evaluate health information on the Internet, as well as to identify challenges and areas of proficiency in the Internet-searching skills of low-literacy adults. "Online Health Information and Low-Literacy African Americans" talks about African Americans suffering from preventable diseases due to illiteracy and low incomes. |
