Abstrakt: The article presents a study which tested the hypothesis that the hyperinflammatory subphenotype is associated with worse acute brain dysfunction in patients who are in mechanically ventilated intensive care units (ICUs). Topics include baseline characteristics of the overall cohort and by subphenotype, associations between hyperinflammatory subphenotype and acute brain dysfunction and death, and strengths of the study.
