Abstrakt: A study conducted by investigators at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Odisha, India, aimed to determine the usefulness of procalcitonin (PCT) and C Reactive protein (CRP) as biomarkers for patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (ALL) and febrile neutropenia (FN). The study included patients aged 15 years and older. The results showed that serial monitoring of PCT can be used as a supplement to clinical decision making, and PCT levels at 48 hours of starting antibiotic therapy can be used for early augmentation of antibiotic therapy to prevent complications of FN in patients undergoing treatment for ALL.
