Abstrakt:	Researchers at Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands have developed a cellular reporter system to evaluate the induction of fetal hemoglobin and screen for therapeutic compounds. Fetal hemoglobin expression can alleviate symptoms associated with severe hereditary diseases. The researchers created an endogenously tagged fetal hemoglobin reporter cell line that closely mirrors the characteristics of adult erythroid progenitor cells. This tool can be used to evaluate genetic and pharmacologic strategies to induce fetal hemoglobin and accelerate the search for safer and more effective treatments. [Extracted from the article]
