Abstrakt: A recent report discusses research findings on glioblastomas, the most common primary brain tumor in adults. The study focused on the impact and molecular signature of neuroinflammation in the brain of patients with glioblastoma. The researchers used translocator protein (TSPO)-PET imaging to detect elevated TSPO-PET signals in the contralateral hemisphere of patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma, which was associated with poor clinical outcomes. The study also identified myeloid cells as the main source of the increased TSPO-PET signals and characterized a complex immune signature in distant brain regions. The findings suggest the potential for immunomodulatory strategies in patients with high TSPO expression and whole brain inflammation. [Extracted from the article]
