Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at the University of Oklahoma explored the implementation of financial hardship screening (FHS) for Native American (NA) patients with cancer. The study involved interviews with NA patients and clinical staff at an academic cancer center. The interviews revealed that NA patients face financial challenges in accessing cancer care, including transportation, lodging, food insecurity, and utility expenses. Clinical staff expressed discomfort in discussing financial hardship with patients due to a lack of training and knowledge about available resources. The study concluded that clear organizational structures and processes are needed to effectively address financial hardship for NA patients with cancer. [Extracted from the article]
