A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Porto aimed to determine the impact of exclusive breastfeeding on the incidence of overweight and obesity in children up to 10 years old. The study analyzed electronic health records of children born between 2006 and 2022 and found that exclusive breastfeeding up to 6 months of age did not have a significant effect on the development of overweight or obesity at age 10. However, breastfeeding was associated with a lower risk of asthma in the future. This research provides valuable insights into the potential benefits of breastfeeding for children's health.
