A study conducted at the University of Hong Kong examined the association between serum vitamin D concentration and the risk of miscarriage in women with threatened miscarriage. The study analyzed stored serum samples from 371 women and found that low serum vitamin D concentration was not associated with an increased risk of miscarriage. However, the study did find that the miscarriage rate was significantly higher in the vitamin D non-deficient group compared to the vitamin D-deficient group in women who presented at 6 gestational weeks or earlier. Overall, the study concluded that a low serum vitamin D concentration was not associated with an increased risk of miscarriage in women with threatened miscarriage. [Extracted from the article] |
