A recent study conducted in Shanxi, People's Republic of China, examined the impact of preoperative cardiovascular disease on the perioperative period of rectal cancer patients over 75 years old. The study analyzed the clinicopathological data of 625 elderly patients who underwent radical rectal cancer surgery. The results showed that elderly rectal cancer patients with cardiovascular disease are more likely to develop severe complications after surgery, particularly anastomotic leakage and cardiac disorders. This research provides valuable insights into the management of elderly rectal cancer patients with cardiovascular comorbidities. [Extracted from the article] |
