Researchers from Bharti Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College in Maharashtra, India have developed a sustainable instrumental thin-layer chromatography (TLC) methodology for standardizing neuroprotective components in bee propolis. Bee propolis is a complex mixture of phytoactive metabolites with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. The researchers developed a TLC method for five markers with neuroprotective activity and validated it according to international guidelines. The method was found to be precise, accurate, linear, sensitive, and robust, and it had a low environmental impact.
