A study conducted by researchers at the University of Jordan evaluated the filtration efficiency (FE) and breathability of commonly used masks before and after disinfection. The study found that disposable masks had better filtration efficiency than multiple-usable masks, and commercial masks performed better than self-made masks. The addition of an extra layer in a commercial mask improved filtration efficiency. The study concluded that disposable masks and respirators can be washed and reused without significant loss of quality. The best masks for filtration efficiency were N95 respirators, although they had lower breathability. [Extracted from the article] |
