The publication of NHS operational planning guidance is a significant moment in the health service calendar as it sets out the NHS priorities for the coming year and dictates what the strategic focus should be for health services. The devolved nations also publish similar policy documents, which outline the key priorities for NHS spending and focus. These policy documents are important for all neurology services as they set out the key areas of activity for healthcare and what services will be measured against. For those working in neuroscience services, the guidance can provide direction on which areas the NHS sees as important to change or improve, which can then be addressed at a local level where nurses can get involved. Sue Thomas provides an overview of directional policy in the UK for the coming year. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
