This article discusses a rare case of a 35-year-old female patient with tinea manuum, a fungal infection of the hand, caused by Nannizzia gypsea. The patient had persistent itching and a rash on her left-hand fourth finger. The clinical presentation resembled a previously published case of a dermatophyte infection transmitted by an African pygmy hedgehog. The patient's symptoms improved with treatment, but the new owner of the hedgehog could not be traced. The article highlights the risk of transmitting infectious agents from hedgehogs to their owners and emphasizes the importance of timely diagnosis and a detailed history in preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases.
