A new study conducted by researchers at the Mexican Social Security Institute examines the relationship between cardiovascular risk factors and nutritional status in older Mexican adults. The study found that hypertriglyceridemia, systolic hypertension I, age over 80 years, and elementary school education were all independent predictors of malnutrition risk. The researchers suggest that timely evaluations of blood pressure, triglyceride levels, and malnutrition risk using the Mini Nutritional Assessment tool could help prevent illness and reduce mortality in this population. However, it is important to note that the study's findings may not be generalizable due to its cross-sectional design and single-center approach. [Extracted from the article] |
