A study conducted by researchers at Universidad Europea in Madrid, Spain, has examined the use of the adjustable trans-obturator male system (ATOMS) in treating stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in men following surgical treatment for benign prostatic enlargement (BPE). The study involved 40 patients who had undergone either transurethral resection (TURP) or holmium laser enucleation (HoLEP) of the prostate. The results showed that ATOMS was effective in treating SUI in these patients, with 80% achieving dryness and 45% achieving total continence after adjustment. The study suggests that ATOMS is a safe and viable option for treating SUI caused by sphincteric damage from endoscopic surgery for BPE. [Extracted from the article] |
