A recent study conducted at the University of Florida compared two pain management procedures, local infiltration analgesia (LIA) and regional nerve blocks (RNBs), for patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA). The study found that patients who received LIA had lower levels of pain medication, greater mobility, fewer falls, and a higher rate of same-day discharge compared to those who received RNBs. The researchers concluded that the use of minimally invasive procedures like LIA for pain control following THA is favorable. This information may be useful for individuals researching pain management options for THA. [Extracted from the article] |
