Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna compared the intramuscular and intranasal administration of sedative drugs for piglet castration. The aim of the study was to determine the suitability of intranasal administration for providing sedation with minimal stress. The researchers found that intranasal administration resulted in longer induction times, shorter recovery times, and higher scores for defense and vocalization compared to intramuscular administration. Ultimately, the study concluded that intranasal protocols did not meet the requirements for rapid induction and good quality sedation, and therefore cannot be recommended.
