This commentary discusses the association between serum cholesterol levels and outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The author highlights the uncertainty surrounding this association, despite decades of research. A recent study by Wu and colleagues adds to the knowledge on this topic by investigating the association between the LDL-C/HDL-C ratio and functional outcomes after ICH. The study found that patients with lower LDL-C/HDL-C ratios had a higher risk of poor functional outcomes. However, the study has limitations, and further research is needed to understand the mechanisms underlying this relationship. [Extracted from the article] |
