This article provides a detailed exploration of the geography, mining history, and mineralogy of the Elkhorn Mountains in southwestern Montana. It focuses on the Elkhorn and Radersburg mining districts and discusses the specific mines and minerals found in the area. The article also delves into the concept of epitaxy, which involves the growth of crystals on preexisting crystals, and explains the different types of oriented intergrowths. The authors conducted a study on the epitactic relationship between quartz and hemimorphite minerals, observing their structural similarities and suggesting a shared framework as the reason for this relationship.
