This study aimed at developing the Know-Need-Do-Problem Based Learning (KND-PBL) model and evaluate its effectiveness in a programming course. The focus of this research was to address the problem of suboptimal implementation of the case method in programming education. The research methodology employed in this study was research and development, involving 60 students and 15 experts as participants. The data collected were analyzed using mean and path analysis methods. The results of the study demonstrate that the development of the new PBL model called KND-PBL in programming course successfully enhances students' problem-solving skills and learning outcomes. Through the KND-PBL approach, students were able to develop their understanding of programming concepts by acquiring foundational knowledge (Know), understanding the need to apply these concepts (Need), engaging in activities that require the application of concepts (Do), and facing problem-solving challenges relevant to the learning material (Problem Based Learning). This research provided evidence that the implementation of KND-PBL in programming course brought significant benefits to students. The model helped improve students' problem-solving skills and learning outcomes, which were important goals in a programming course. The implications of this study highlight the importance of integrating the KND-PBL approach in the design of programming course to optimize learning outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
