Researchers at the University of Washington Bothell have developed an automated method called DeepTracer-Refine to refine protein structures predicted by AlphaFold2, a protein structure prediction method. This method improves the accuracy of protein structure models and reduces the need for manual refinement, which is time-consuming. The researchers evaluated DeepTracer-Refine on 39 multi-domain proteins and found that it improved the average residue coverage and local Distance Difference Test score. The method also outperformed another refinement method called Phenix in terms of runtime performance. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in Briefings in Bioinformatics.
