Researchers from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Hasanuddin University in Makassar, Indonesia, conducted a systematic review on the post-surgical complications of supernumerary teeth in the mandibular premolar area. They found that supernumerary teeth in this region are rare and predominantly occur in male patients. The study concluded that surgical management of these teeth is relatively safe, but caution is advised due to the limited sample size. The researchers recommend detailed pre-operative evaluation, a comprehensive treatment plan, and regular follow-up to minimize postoperative complications. [Extracted from the article] |
