A recent study conducted at the University of Aleppo focused on aneurysms, specifically splenic artery aneurysms (SAA). The researchers emphasized that giant SAAs with a diameter of 10 cm are rare and can lead to severe complications such as rupture and fistulas. The study presented a case of a 50-year-old male with a ruptured giant splenic artery aneurysm complicated by a gastric and transverse colonic fistula. The researchers concluded that prompt diagnosis, immediate surgical intervention, and tailored approaches are crucial for successful treatment of splenic artery aneurysms.
