Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers from Hospitals for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, examined the impact of dexamethasone on transplant-related mortality (TRM) in pediatric patients undergoing stem cell transplants. The study found that the use of dexamethasone during hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) conditioning did not increase TRM in pediatric patients. However, it did significantly increase the incidence of invasive fungal disease (IFD). The researchers recommend that clinicians consider the potential risk of IFD when selecting chemotherapy-induced vomiting prophylaxis for pediatric HCT patients. [Extracted from the article]
