A study conducted at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia, aimed to determine the effectiveness of lung cancer screening models in a safety net hospital (SNH) population. The researchers developed a model specifically tailored to the SNH population and compared its performance to the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial (PLCO) model. The study found that the SNH model demonstrated greater specificity in characterizing lung cancer risk in the SNH population.
