Researchers at the General Surgery Department have conducted a study on gallbladder cancer, specifically focusing on a rare inflammatory disease called xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis. This disease can be misdiagnosed as gallbladder cancer due to similar radiological findings and clinical manifestations, leading to unnecessary radical surgery and increased morbidity and mortality. The study emphasizes the difficulty of making an accurate differential diagnosis based on imaging techniques alone. For more information, readers can refer to the research article published in Revista Medica del Hospital General de Mexico. [Extracted from the article] |
