Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at Complutense University of Madrid provides new insights into the therapy of indomethacin, a non-selective cyclooxygenase inhibitor. The study focuses on the development and characterization of solid dispersions (SDs) of indomethacin with low-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose (LHPC), which were then incorporated into a hydroxypropyl guar (HPG) hydrogel to enhance drug solubility on the skin. The researchers found that the SD hydrogels exhibited superior drug release compared to hydrogels with pure indomethacin. The study suggests that the formulated indomethacin SD hydrogels could be a suitable candidate for topical administration. [Extracted from the article]
