The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will hold a public hearing on August 26th to discuss two permits for the proposed Maggie Lynn underground limestone mine in Washington County, Pennsylvania. Neiswonger Construction Inc. has applied for a large noncoal mining permit and a water permit known as the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. The proposed mine is located within a half mile of East Bethlehem Township, an environmental justice area. The public will have the opportunity to provide testimony at the hearing, and attendees should contact the DEP in advance to register. [Extracted from the article] |
