Abstrakt: This letter published in the Journal of Neurology discusses the impact of myasthenic exacerbation (ME) and myasthenic crisis (MC) on the long-term disease course of myasthenia gravis (MG). The study found that patients who experienced ME or MC had higher baseline impairment and required more intensive immunosuppressant therapy compared to patients without ME. Additionally, patients with ME were more likely to be hospitalized and had a higher incidence of concomitant rheumatoid diseases. The study suggests that ME and MC are associated with negative long-term outcomes in MG. The study also suggests that early intervention and escalation of therapy may be beneficial in preventing ME and improving the long-term clinical status of MG patients, but further research is needed.
