Abstrakt: This article is a reflection by Rebecca Lurie on the worker cooperative movement. Lurie became involved in 2013 with hopes that the movement would contribute to the fight for good jobs and meaningful work, as well as sustainable businesses. Lurie notes that the approach is growing, but not fast enough, and there are instances where worker-owned approaches are seen as just another business model rather than a catalyst for radical economic and community change. Lurie has experience with national and regional worker co-op organizations, such as DAWI and the US federation of worker coops Union Coop Council, and believes they have been beneficial in leading and growing the movement. Lurie suggests that these organizations should focus on forming strategic partnerships with other worker-centered movements and organizations. [Extracted from the article]
