A recent study conducted by researchers at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust in the United Kingdom examined the impact of comorbidities on the quality of life of individuals with severe asthma. The study found that both pulmonary and extrapulmonary treatable traits are important determinants of quality of life in severe asthma. Comorbidities associated with cumulative systemic corticosteroid exposure, such as obesity, anxiety/depression, and osteoporosis, were particularly associated with worse quality of life. The researchers emphasized the importance of early identification and management of severe asthma to prevent the development of comorbidities. [Extracted from the article] |
