A recent study conducted by researchers from Eskisehir Technical University investigated the effects of caffeine and sodium bicarbonate on strength performance. The study involved nineteen male college students who were given different supplements or placebos before performing the isometric mid-thigh pull test (IMTP). The results showed that caffeine supplementation alone, taken 60 minutes before exercise, positively affected submaximal strength performance. However, sodium bicarbonate, whether taken alone or in combination with caffeine, did not enhance submaximal strength in the IMTP tests. [Extracted from the article] |
