A recent study conducted in Longyan, China, aimed to assess the use of Doppler echocardiography in evaluating left ventricular diastolic function and prognosis in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The study included 286 SLE patients and 100 healthy individuals. The results showed that SLE patients had higher levels of C-reactive protein and lower levels of complement 3 and complement 4 compared to the control group. Doppler echocardiographic parameters also differed significantly between SLE patients and healthy controls. The study concluded that Doppler echocardiography is a valuable tool for diagnosing left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in SLE patients and that certain echocardiographic parameters can predict cardiovascular events in these patients.
