Researchers from JSS College of Pharmacy in Karnataka, India have conducted a review on silk fibroin-based drug delivery systems and their applications in cancer gene therapy. Silk proteins are known for their biodegradability and biocompatibility, making them valuable in various sectors. Silk fibroin, the major component of silk fibers, has properties that make it ideal for developing biomedical devices, including drug delivery systems for targeted cancer treatments. The review explores strategies for developing diverse drug delivery systems using silk fibroin and highlights its applications in diabetes, gene therapy, and cancer treatment.
