A new report from the University of Medical Sciences discusses the potential use of Ficus exasperata Vahl leaf extract (MEFE) as a remedy for diabetes. The study investigated the impact of MEFE on the expression of TGR5, GLP-1, and GIP in diabetic Wistar rats. The results showed that MEFE reduced blood glucose levels, increased expression of insulin and other genes related to blood glucose control, and had antioxidative effects. These findings suggest that MEFE may be beneficial in managing diabetes. Further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms of action of MEFE. [Extracted from the article] |
