Abstrakt: A study conducted by Dokuz Eylul University describes a novel surgical approach for the removal of posterior thoracolumbar implants in patients with symptomatic failure. The study gathered data from the medical files of 314 patients who underwent implant removal using this technique between 2010 and 2020. The average age of the patients was 46.5 years, and the mean follow-up duration was 7 years. The study found that the novel approach was practical and effective, with no major complications noted postoperatively. However, difficulties in screw removal due to screw-screwdriver mismatch were encountered in 15 of the surgeries. The researchers suggest further trials to assess the efficacy of this technique in overcoming surgical problems associated with screw removal. [Extracted from the article]
