A recent study conducted at Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timisoara in Romania examined the healing process of papillae after augmentation with hyaluronic acid (HA) gel. The study involved two patients with stage III, grade B periodontitis, and fifteen papillae were selected for analysis. The primary outcome of the study was the formation of new collagen fibers, which was observed to begin in the second week of healing. The study also noted the presence of inflammatory infiltrate, granulomatous reactions, and epithelial erosions, but no signs of ulceration or necrosis were observed. Overall, the study concluded that papilla augmentation with HA promotes new collagen formation despite some foreign body granulomatous reactions. [Extracted from the article] |
