Abstrakt: Researchers at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, have conducted a study on the relationship between pain and biomarkers in patients with tick-borne infections (TBIs) before and after antibiotic treatment. The study found that pain ratings significantly decreased after antibiotic treatment, suggesting a persistent infection responsive to antibiotics. However, variations in biomarkers did not predict pain changes, indicating symptom variability among long-term TBI patients. The study highlights the importance of appropriate antibiotic treatment for TBIs and raises human rights concerns related to withholding pain relief. [Extracted from the article]
