Researchers at Universidad Juarez del Estado de Durango in Mexico have conducted a study on the potential benefits of olive oil consumption. The study focused on the ability of olive oil to induce lipidomic remodeling and modulate essential lipid-protein interactions. The researchers found that olive oil and its primary compound, oleic acid, facilitated the transport of mutated transmembrane proteins, specifically cyclic nucleotide-gated R272Q mutant channels, towards the plasma membrane, making them electrophysiologically functional. This study reveals a novel property of olive oil as a membrane protein traffic inductor. [Extracted from the article] |
