The article examines the connections between motherhood and construction in the fourteenth-century French text. Topics include the role of Presine and Melusine in using physical space to influence family and dynasty, the impact of these maternal figures on the literary representation of female agency in building and lineage, and the historical and literary parallels drawn with crusader queen Melisende's influence on Melusine's character. |
