Abstrakt: This article discusses a rare complication of herpes zoster called abdominal pseudo hernia. Herpes zoster is caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus and typically presents as unilateral radicular pain and vesicular eruptions in a single dermatome. In some cases, the virus can affect the motor nerves, leading to paralysis of muscles, including the abdominal muscles, and resulting in pseudo herniation. The article presents a case study of a 60-year-old man who developed abdominal pseudo hernia following a previous episode of herpes zoster. The diagnosis was made based on clinical examination findings and the absence of structural defects in abdominal ultrasound. Treatment involved counseling the patient about the self-resolving nature of the condition, abdominal muscle strengthening exercises, and oral gabapentin for pain relief. The article emphasizes the importance of awareness among dermatologists regarding this unusual complication of herpes zoster to avoid unnecessary investigations and surgical interventions.
