Introduction: Alterations in pulmonary function and sleep quality after COVID-19 infection have been documented in previous studies. However, few studies have investigated alterations in pulmonary function and sleep quality in individuals who have recovered from mild-to-moderate COVID-19, especially during the early recovery period. Methods: A total of 110 adults who had recovered from mild-to-moderate COVID-19 infection within the first 3 months, and 50 healthy adults as the control group were recruited from February to May 2022 at the Military Hospital 103, Hanoi, Vietnam, to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on pulmonary function and sleep quality. Pulmonary function was assessed using spirometry, and sleep quality was evaluated using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Data analysis was conducted using a general linear model after adjusting for confounding factors. Results: The recovery group from COVID-19 infection showed lower adjusted means for FVC (%pred), FEV1 (%pred), FEV3 (%pred), FEF 200–1200 (L/s), FEF 200–1200 (%pred), PEF (L/s), PEF (%pred), sleep efficiency, and a higher adjusted mean for sleep duration compared to the control group. Moreover, decreased adjusted means for FVC (%pred), FEV1 (%pred), and FEV3 (%pred) were observed in the group of patients with higher sleep duration (>8 h). Conclusions: These findings highlight the impact of COVID-19 on lung function and sleep quality, particularly sleep duration and efficiency, in young and middle-aged adults during the early recovery period from mild-tomoderate COVID-19.
