This article discusses a study that evaluates the dimensions of micro-gaps at the implant-abutment connection in dental implant restorations. The study compares different types of implant abutments and measures the minimum and maximum distances between them. The results show that there are differences between the abutment types, but there are conflicting opinions in the literature regarding the superiority of original abutments. The study also examines the fit of CAD/CAM abutments compared to prefabricated abutments and finds that CAD/CAM abutments generally have a comparable fit. Another study analyzes the compatibility between different dental implants and non-original compatible stock abutments and finds that the vertical adaptations are within acceptable limits. The study concludes that CAD/CAM dental implant abutments provide similar results in terms of micro-gaps and could offer good adaptation and lower micro-gaps compared to stock abutments with proper quality control and modification of milling parameters.
